Extreme weather is affecting Christmas traditions

Christmas is celebrated in very different kinds of weather. However, the extreme weather due to climate change is altering the Christmas traditions.

In recent years, Brazil has experienced frequent flooding during the Christmas season. Today, children are unable to enjoy traditional Christmas activities because they must beware of flooding.

In Puerto Rico, hurricanes are more likely to hit the country now than they were in the 1950s. During the Christmas season, they manage to celebrate Christmas, even though most of the country is still without electricity due to recent hurricanes.
