No leaving before meeting your deadline! An anti-procrastination cafe in Japan

A manuscript writing cafe opened in Tokyo this March. The cafe has ten seats reserved for writers, manga artists, editors, proofreaders, and creators who want to meet their deadlines.

When entering, you have to write down your name, writing goal, and the time you plan to finish. In this cafe, you may find unlimited self-serve coffee and tea. High-speed Wi-Fi and docking ports are also available at every seat. The proprietor and staff will nag you  about your deadline and word count as you wish.

The cafe is where the proprietor believes that the neighborhood will provide energy for writers’ creativity. Customers find that they usually complete their tasks in a shorter time than they expected. All you need to pay is 150 Japanese yen for the first 30 minutes and 300 Japanese yen per hour after that.

表示「某件事的期限」,例如the deadline for applications 是「申請期限」,miss the deadline 則是「錯過期限」,而要表達達成期限時間的目標,則是說 meet the deadline 「在期限內完成」。

例句:
We will have to ask for help to meet the tight deadline.
