Orion was a son of Poseidon, God of the Sea. He was tall and handsome and good at hunting.He fell in love with Merope, a princess in Chios, Greece.

歐利安是海神波西頓的兒子，高大英俊又擅長狩獵；他愛上了西奧斯國王的女兒美洛珀。

In a show of his (1)capability, Orion hunted all the beasts on the island of Lemnos and (2)presented them to Merope.

歐利安為了要顯示他的本領，就將雷姆諾島上所有的野獸都捕捉起來獻給美洛珀

Despite doing so, the king of Chios still (3)refused to let Orion marry Merope.

然而，西奧斯國王仍然不肯答應把女兒嫁給歐利安。

One day, Orion raped Merope after getting (4)drunk

有一天，歐利安因為酒醉而侵犯了美洛珀

In a (5)rage, the king (6)implored Dionysus, God of Wine, to severely(7)punish Orion.

國王憤怒的請求酒神戴安尼西斯給予歐利安嚴厲的懲罰

The god, therefore, got Orion extremely drunk, and when he fell asleep, the king (8)removed his eyes.

於是酒神便使歐利安沈醉不醒，而國王卻趁機挖掉了歐利安的眼珠。

After regaining(9)consciousness, Orion (10)fled to the east of Lemnos in the dark, where he(11)recovered his eyesight after (12)begging Apollo to heal him.

歐利安在清醒之後，摸黑逃到了雷姆諾斯島東部，懇求阿波羅的幫助才重獲光明。

From that point, he went elsewhere before finally reaching Crete. There, he became a (13)subordinate of Diana, goddess of the hunt.

而歐利安在輾轉逃到了克里特島後，成為獵神戴安娜手下。

However, he became (14)arrogant,and(15)claimed to be the greatest man in the world.

但他卻變得十分自大，還對外宣稱世界上沒有比自己更棒的人。

This made Hera very angry. She sent a highly (16)poisonous scorpion to attack him.

赫拉女神聽到後相當不悅，就派出一隻猛毒的蠍子去攻擊歐利安

Orion didn’t notice the scorpion until it(17)stunghim on the heel. He was soon under the influence of the its (18)venom and fell over on top of it, killing it as he himself died.

歐利安一時不察被蠍子螫到而毒發倒地，卻也正好壓死了這隻毒蠍。

Zeus had been watching the whole thing and put Orion and the scorpion in the sky as (19)constellations.However, every time Scorpio rises above the eastern (20)horizon, Orion will hide below the western horizon in fear. They are always about 180 degrees apart in the heavens.

天神宙斯目睹了這一切，讓他們都成為天上的星座：獵戶座和天蠍座。但是每當天蠍座由東方地平線昇起時，獵戶座就害怕的躲進西方地平線之下，他們在天空相隔約180度。
