Don’t try to split up your purchases to get more lottery receipts

In Taiwan, people can win NT$200 to NT$10 million from the uniform-invoice lottery, depending on the number printed on their receipt; however, some people try to spread out their purchases to get more lottery receipts.

The National Audit Office (MOF) recently found that between November 2019 and October 2020, two frequent winners had won more than 2,000 times. How did they do it? They split up their purchases or bought large quantities of cheap items separately to get more eceipts.

The government said that they will no longer pay these winners their prizes and are asking them to return the money they have already received.
