In Greek mythology, Pan was the god of the wild. He was also the protector of shepherds,livestock and hunters.

在希臘神話中，山林之神潘恩，衪也是牧人、家畜與獵人的守護神

Being the son of Hermes, he had divinity.He was part human and part goat, with the body of a man and the legs and horns of a goat.

由於衪是天使漢密斯的兒子，因此具有神性，但其外表卻是半人半羊，有山羊的腿足和雙角，上半身則為人。

One day,Pan was at a party with a number of other gods at the Niles when the monster Typhon turned up.

有一次潘恩與眾神在尼羅河畔飲酒聚會時，突然出現了百頭巨怪泰弗恩

The monster was as big as a hill. It had a hundred serpent heads. There were fierce fires coming out of its eyes.

它的身軀龐大如同小山，百個蛇頭上的蛇目噴出烈火

It also made thunderous roars. All of the gods freaked and turned themselves into different kinds of animals in flight.

口中發出雷鳴般怪聲，眾神驚懼異常，慌忙之中紛紛變成各種動物逃離該地。

Pan transformed himself into a goat to run for his life and proceeded to jump into the Niles to hide. However, in panic, he only managed to change the lower part of his body into a fish, leaving his upper body in the form of a goat.

雖然潘恩也化身為山羊逃開，但當它跳入尼羅河中躲藏時，驚慌之下僅將其下半身變成魚，而上半身仍是羊的模樣

Since goatscan’t swim, he ended up drowning,despite having the tail of a fish. Later on, Zeus moved the silly goat to the sky, and it became Capricorn:part goat, part fish.

由於山羊是不會游水的，雖然有著魚尾但最後仍然慘遭溺斃，後來天神宙斯將這隻傻山羊移到天上，成為半羊半魚的摩羯星座。
