Japan to reopen to tourists soon

Japan will begin “test tourism” in May by allowing small group tours to enter the country.
Tourists who have been triple-vaccinated and come from the United States, Australia, Thailand,
and Singapore will be allowed to join the tours, which will be strictly planned in conjunction with travel agencies and accompanied at all times by tour guides.

Japan has adopted strict border control since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. The pandemic has been a serious blow to the country’s tourism, which was a major pillar of Japan’s economy. In 2019, Japan hosted 31.9 million foreign visitors, who spent 4.81 trillion yen (US$37.2bn).
